The Governing Body is asked to consider and approve the CCLIP - GI: K156, 3rd/4th St East to Belmont Place agreement with the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) for $414,000.00.

The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) received bids for the CCLIP - GI: K156, 3rd/4th St East to Belmont Place project on August 23, 2023. KDOT plans to award the bid to Smoky Hill LLC for $1,413,205.00. KDOT will be providing $1,000,000.00 towards the project. The City of Garden City is responsible for the $413,205.00 (rounded to $414,000.00) which is required for the matching of maximum KDOT funds pledged by the City to be remitted to the Chief of Fiscal Services of KDOT on or before 10/12/2023 for use by KDOT in making payments for construction work and engineering on the above-designated project with final cost being determined upon completion and audit of the project. If approved today, this agreement certifies that no known or foreseeable legal impediments exist that would prohibit project completion and that the project complies with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations required for completion.

1. The Governing Body may authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement pledging the matching funds for $414,000.00 towards the CCLIP - GI: K156, 3rd/4th St East to Belmont Place project. 
2.  The Governing Body may not authorize the Mayor to sign the agreement.

Funding for this project will come from GO Bond proceeds issued in the fall of 2023. The payment to KDOT due in October will be paid from the Special Trafficway Fund (30341102-6241) and will be reimbursed upon closing of the GO Bond issuance.
