BACKGROUND:
On September 7, 2021, the Governing Body Directed Staff to engage Professional Engineering Consultants (PEC) to provide recommendations for infrastructure improvements necessary to extend water service to Country Acres Subdivision. After consultation with PEC, staff updated the Governing Body at the December 7, 2021, meeting, and the Governing Body approved the request to connect to the City water infrastructure.
The agreement before the Governing Body today outlines the scope of work for the project. The City will provide metered services to customers within this subdivision. The water rate for customers in this subdivision will by two times the City rate per Sec. 90-177(2). If approved, the City will pay the Developer $185,240.75 as a cost-share to oversize the portion of the water main to be installed from the current boundary of the City water system at 4500 East Mary, then east to Farmland Road and then south along Farmland Road to the entrance of the subdivision.
Patriot Land Development LLC requested the extension of the City water supply to a subdivision outside the corporate limits of the City of Garden City. Country Acres Subdivision, a 109.11-acre tract, is situated southeast of the Mary Street and Farmland Road intersection in the NW ¼ of Section 11, Tract 24, Range 32W. The development will consist primarily of 1-acre lots. The estimated impact to the City water supply to provide water service to this development is 11.6 million gallons per year.
